Most often it is a case of just not seeing the little opportunities that they’re presented with all the time, OR it’s because they don’t think the rewards they would receive for a little time and effort is worth the trade. WRONG!
Why? Well long gone are the days where you could throw a bunch of money at something and become a household name. Big companies are waking up to this fact and the smart ones are embracing social media as the next big wave in product brand recognition.
Zappos.com is the poster child for this movement. No other company has committed to this sort of marketing like they have. In fact, they’ve built their brand on great service, and WOW (Word of mouth).
How does that happen? What did they do that you’re not? They are taking the time to see and capitalize on this little opportunities for growth I talked about earlier.
Here’s a perfect example of how they leverage their order “thank you pages” to build their brand and “become” part of the community of people that buy their stuff.
Lot’s of people are scratching their heads trying to figure out how to “monetize” social networking outlets like Twitter, and Facebook; but the fact is that you can’t. Not directly anyway.
However you can turn your customers into raving fans by becoming part of their community. And Zappos does that in spades!
