Jeff Smith Wins 1AutomationWiz Merchant Spotlight Award!
Sometimes, if you’re lucky enough, you come across advice that is powerful, pertinent, and pro-active. Today is one of those days.
This month’s 1AutomationWiz Merchant Spotlight Award Winner is Jeff Smith, Founder and CEO of Local Mobile Social, Niche Marketing Machine, and MyRepManager.
Jeff’s seen – and heard – a lot during his 35+ years of work within a host of different industries. He has been part of more than 16 different start-ups, is a published author, and the owner of multiple successful businesses.
That’s why we just had to know – how does Jeff do it? What is the big secret to his success?
Amazingly, it can be summed up in two words: “Take Action.” Jeff maintains that no matter what stage your business is in, his advice is relevant and realistic.
Jeff urges other entrepreneurs to, “Take action at any scale that you can manage. If you only have a handful of dollars, take action at that scale. Find a way to go to market and take action, because nothing will happen without that.”
Entrepreneurs often come face to face with the “technology roadblock.” All too often, the same questions are ruminated over for hours: “I’ve got to have this, and this, and this! However, Jeff Smith says, “Actually, you don’t need any of that.”
One of the biggest mistakes that Jeff believes many entrepreneurs make is thinking that they must have a checklist of items crossed off before they can take action. “It’s just not true. Entrepreneurs need to take action in whatever capacity they can.”
Like many entrepreneurs, Jeff dabbles in a bit of everything. He specializes in the generation of new customer leads and the promotion and growth of his clients’ businesses. However, if you ask him, he’ll tell you that he’s not an expert in the technology field.
“I like to explain myself in this business as: I’m an expert in building a successful business, without actually being an expert. I’ve run software companies and I don’t know how to program and I don’t really care to learn how to do that. You can find people to do all those things.”
One distinguishing factor that contributes to Jeff’s continual success – he doesn’t work in his business, he works on his business. Jeff points out that it is a lot easier to grow a business faster if you’re not working in it.
For those struggling to get their business off the ground – Jeff suggests turning to automation. “You don’t have to have a lot of money to get a business started. You’ve essentially got an automated system with all of the main functions that you need with 1AutomationWiz.” Jeff knows because automation plays a vital role in his businesses.
Jeff uses 1AutomationWiz for several of his products, including the sale of his books, his coaching tools, his marketing products, Niche Marketing Machine, MyRepManager, and his local marketing businesses, Local Mobile Social.
“This is the easiest time in history to start a business. I’m sitting in my dining room here by the lake and I’ve got multiple businesses.”
Jeff is a strong proponent for partnerships. He encourages entrepreneurs to reach out and find a partner that will help fill in any gaps. Jeff views 1AutomatinoWiz as one of his trusted partners. “1AutomationWiz has helped me launch my businesses and get them to market quickly.”
Jeff gave a few more tips for those who are at the early stages of their business. He says that you don’t have to go for a grandiose idea – start simple. Sell something that you already know how to do. However, he cautions,
“You have to have a plan, a direction of where it is you are leading your business. Most people don’t have a long-term plan, they just focus on the very short-term.”
For those in the early stages of their business, Jeff has some useful tips for where to begin:
- Figure out a solution to a problem.
- Find your market. Determine who your ideal customer is.
- Build everything around your ideal customer.
- Find a unique selling proposition. What’s your offer? What’s your hook that is going to get people into your funnel?
- Look at your competitors.
- Develop a plan. It could be on a single piece of paper. It doesn’t have to be 50 pages.
